Mary’s Birth Quilt!
With less than 2 weeks till my due date, my take on the traditional birth quilt is finally complete. Instead of gathering women to sew a quilt, I asked for line drawings that I could transform into embroidery. I ended up with a wonderful variety of designs and a quilt, that if not technically perfect, is one of the coolest things I’ve ever made.
Thanks so much to the women in my life who contributed ‘squares’, and to Justin, my love. The quilt will be with me during labor, inspiring and encouraging me to work in harmony with the baby girl inside and with the forces of nature.

This collage is my birth art. It includes bits of art from my husband and son as well as some words of wisdom from my prenatal yoga instructor. I’ll carry its symbolism with me into labor in less than a month…
